faith (when i let you down)

you might lose your faith in science.
you might lose faith in wealth.
you might lose your faith in Jesus,
or lose faith in yourself.

but, when I let you down,
look past your doubt.
just, please, please,
don't lose your faith in me.

you could lose faith in music,
or lose faith in your friends.
you could lose your faith in breathing,
feel trapped in your own skin.

but I'll be right there beside you,
when the walls are caving in.
oh, I'm not going anywhere.
But, when I let you down,
look past your doubt.
just please
don't lose your faith in me.
please don't lose your faith in me.

i'm not going anywhere.

spread hope like fire

obama was here the other day...not actually in my home, but more or less 10 minutes down the street. good God that man knows how to cause a traffic jam. u best keep these roads clear if you want me to obama it rather than romney it next year sir....speaking of politics, i hope lincoln chaffee is doing well in ri, as i voted for him and then moved to north carolina. i apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

tonight is game 7 of the stanley cup finals, and the boston bruins are "this" close. i will be routing for them, and realizing that only the red sox are truly the team i have no passion for in new england....speaking of the stanley cup, the playoff beards at game 7 of the finals are so manly that i feel insignificant in my need to only shave twice a week. the stanley cup, i find to be one of the more coveted championships in american sport (mlb, nfl, nhl, nba). i find the stanley cup and world series to be the difinitive champions competition. the super bowl can be won by nearly anybody on a hot streak come jan-feb. and the nba finals are pretty much determined before the season begins. go bruins, and go chisox.

is it just me of is the canadian national anthem a much better song than our own anthem?

ancient code of ethics

todays blog comes at you with rants of music, sports, movies, and pretty much the usual things that i tend to blog about.

i know im ab 5 years late for this bandwagon, but, dance gavin dance (please, at least give it till .25 in) has been on heavy rotation in the apartment this week, and makes me dissapointed that i missed out on the "i knew them before you did" rights.

in 85 days i will be 9th row, left center, taking in the sounds of blink-182 for the the 9th time. not to say that this is any grounds for bragging, but in my mind...it totally is.

377 days until i become a mrs. better start figuring out my brides maids....thank God for that movie.

as the temperature drops to 85 today im trying to keep the a/c off as long as possible...its 1030am and im about to give in.

i think i might go see xmen first class today. but with a 6th grade education of professor x and the xmen, i find it hard not to be a cynical jabrone throughout the entire "film". i did enjoi the hangover 2, and yes, i did like it more than the 1st, which i find to be one of the more overrated films in recent years....God he's so emo.

the chisox are 5.5 back, that will be all for them today.

my golf game improves by each carolinian minute. i challenge all takers to a 9 for 9 morning/afternoon.

writers block has settled in, and i will bid you ado.

mest

as i wait for the arrival of a full house this weekend, i can't help but wonder if uncle jesse will come as "pre clean up", mullet and all.

a band that has captivated me this past week is "mest". we all had our mest stage, fun, catchy, energetic pop punk, with reckless abandon, and no concern of impressing music critics. with a description as so, u may think it sounds awful. and to some yes, it probably does. but i remember seeing mest at the 2003 warped tour, and was delighted by an all nude lead singer, with a strategically placed guitar, who cursed like a sailor, and bartered with women in the crowd to "match up" with his outfit of choice. not exactly a show to make mom and dad proud, but there was a certain something ab bands like mest in the early 2000's that is missing in todays "punk/emo/whatever you want to call it" music scene. it was a feeling of knowing that the music they made wasn't ground breaking, but why not have fun and see how far we can push the envelope with this thing. i like to think of blink-182 as being the Godfather of this genre, as they elegantly termed their music as "crappy punk rock"

cadillac

the bruins are 2 wins for reaching the stanley cup. being in raleigh, and having a need and want to route for the team 15 minutes from my home, and at the same time being a new england native, AND at the same time having a soft spot in my heart for the florida panthers....i am completely torn.

playoff predictions:

bruins over lightning
canucks over sharks

canucks over bruins

heat over bulls
mavs over thunder

mavs over heat

make some noise

good morning. with summer just around the corner, i look forward to the heat waves and sun burns to come, but worry ab the state of sports during the summer here in raleigh. without a professional baseball team closer than atlanta, and colleges on break, i worry if the durham bulls are capable of fulfilling a 3 month sports black hole...only time will tell.

ive had the yogi bear movie from neflix sitting here since easter, as much as i love the voice duo of dan akyord and justin timberlake, it could be sitting here a little while longer.

hot sauce committee part 2, brought to you by the one and only beastie boys, is a great album that fits perfectly in their catalog, and puts "to the 5 boroughs"father estranged from the rest of their work.

is there any guilt to be had for somewhat enjoying the bruno mars album?

osama is dead, our president has a birth certificate, and somehow donald trump is worth our presidents time.

enjoy the weekend and in the great words of travis shettell:

everyday im shuffling

good God what has happened to the chisox? oh wait, its april, and according to the mlb dictionary, this is all normal and is in no need of medical attention.

speaking of baseball, last thursday was my first trip to a good ol' "durham bulls" game. despite the lack of kevin costner memorbilia throughout the park, the atmosphere is a good one, and the selection on local micro brews provided is simply outstanding. i do find the in between inning entertainment to be...entertaining. but when the games and trivia goes on EVERY inning, something known as "overkill" comes into play.

last night was the wwe draft and i was able to attend at the rbc center, here in raleigh. despite being completely entertained, i was a little dissapointed by the lack of hulkamania t shirts in attendance.

pretty lights

the nhl playoffs have started, and as i watch the red wings/coyotes game, it is quite apparent that the coyotes have no business being on the ice with one of the nhl's most respected franchises. i am routing for the "b'z", and find great interest in watching them play the "habs" in the first round. go b'zzzzzz!

i have decided to become commissioner of a fantasy baseball league. currently the season is in week two and i am currently in dead last place. as commissioner, being in last place is very embarrassing, yet, what is more embarrassing is the fact that no one has paid their league fees as of this date...if you read this, and owe me the fees, consider this to be your 3rd billing cycle.

tomorrow "the cable guy", no, not larry, comes to install the ever popular hd, ,home dvr, on demand package to 1327. i am quite excited to watch the remainder of the nhl playoffs in hd, not to mention monday night raw.

speaking of professinal wrestling, my interest has grown as of late. i notice a trend...i originally was a dedicated follower in my younger high school days, then lost interest untill my late college days, lost interest again, and now have found great interest in my late 20's. the trend, seems to be sporadic, but raw is coming to raleigh, and i have a ticket...bc im....AWWWEEESSSSSSOOOOMMMMEEEEEE.

a possible wedding date and location is soon to be finalized, so please stay glued to those mail boxes, those save the dates are soon to come.

please listen to:

pretty lights-hot like sauce

good night.

manny being manny

spring has sprung...baseball season is underway and im content w the chisox start. i do have a bit of anxiety pertaining to their pitching, but with peavy soon to come i hope these worries turn to glory.

being 15 minutes from the arena, i tried to catch the "caniac" fever of the carolina hurricanes fan base. unfortunately there will not be any caniac playoff fever this season, as the "'canes" dropped their final game of the season, along with the final playoff spot...better luck next year.

this past tuesday i went to "the brewery" in raleigh. by the name you would think it is a bar/restaurnat. but no, its a music venue no larger than a 3 bedroom apartment. not only was the size something to behold, but the walls filled with graffiti throughout the entire venue made it that much more enjoyable. as my second visit to the areas live music scene, i am thuroughly impressed with their venues and the dirtiness of them. as for the bands, senses, fail, the ghost inside, and man overboard (i did miss"transit"), the opening bands stole the show, which made for a sub par senses fail set.

thank goodness i purchased my first set of golf clubs the same week as the masters...who needs lessons when i can watch hours of play by the worlds best and quite simply acquire the skills by osmosis?

we are all aware of the show "tosh.0" on comedy central, and i must admit, when listening to his cd he brings up a good point. the bit goes something like:

"why does barry bonds need an asterisk next to his name in the record books, when babe ruth doesn't have an asterisk, and he was allowed to set records before african-americans were allowed to play baseball"

sure, its a comedy bit, but it does speak some truth.

until next time.

selection sunday

happy selection sunday, i hope your team has a favorable position in the bracket, and wish you luck in your efforts to concoct that ever so rare "perfect bracket"...now that i have lived in raleigh for over 2 weeks it has become very apparent to me that college athletics, particularly basketball means a lot...dare i say bigger than bosox yankees a lot. as of now i have yet to choose a side. i have some fine picks to choose from as i have raleigh's own "nc state", the underdog of the area. "unc", tar heel blue, and what seems to be the yankees of the area, "duke". by default, living in raleigh, i should choose nc state, but as i have found out, living here doesnt necessarily mean i am obligated to the wolfpack....i mean, i did win a duke baseball prize pack today at the duke v. nc state game....they may have bought me over.

so far so good here in raleigh. although i havent spent much time in actual raleigh. two weeks ago had me in fayetville, last week had me in charlotte, next week maryland, and the week afer wilmington. so, needless to say i look forward to the time when i can really explore raleigh outside of a saturday and a sunday.

as the baseball season approaches i feel quite confident in the 2011 chisox. on paper the chisox look like one of the most dominant teams in the AL, outside the....dare i say....bosox....i congratulate all the red sox nation. u have assembled a team that is quite impressive, and strikes fear into my heart, and without confession, the yankee nation.

the apartment still consists of a bed, camping chair and stool. soon enough a couch will follow, and who knows? maybe a coffee table?

ill keep you posted.

...dragging the lake

week one is in the books...ive tried to cram everything a raleigh, north carolina resident should do in their first week. ive worn shorts everyday in the month of march, ive attended a nc state baseball game, tried to watch the duke/unc game at a local bar (sadly showing up 2 hours before tip off isnt enough to get you a seat), went to the cats cradle in chapel hill to see a show.

...speaking of the cats cradle. this is a venue that is coming close to extinct. it is a dirty, dark and totally emo venue. a place like this has been replaced by your "showcase live"'s and other various corporate sponsered venues. support the cradle!

last week had me in fayetville, which i highly recommend you cross off your bucket list, but this week brings me to charlotte. i'll try my best to see a bobcats game, considering blake grifiin is in town monday, and the bulls later in the week.

theres your update for the week. hope all is well where you live.

welcome to raleigh

greetings from the mid atlantic! i have officially been a north carolinian for the past 57 hours. raleigh has welcomed me with 77 degree weather and a getup kids show that is everything you come to expect of a getup kids show 12 years after the release of "something to write home about".

since ive last blogged much has happened in my life, as you know i have escaped the harsh winter that new england is cursed with. but you may be unaware of my other news. as of 2/12/11 rachel and i have agreed to enjoy each others company for the life ahead. in laments terms, we got engaged. as i rode across the beach on my trusty steed, rachel couldnt help but say yes to a lifetime of rjproof'ing.

keep posted for a date, and stay glued to those mailboxes for a snazzy save the date.

so presently i have a 3 bedroom apartment in raleigh all to myself....rachel and mikey will soon follow but until then ill be living off a camping chair and a mattress....livin large!

...that damn sasquatch

so it official, its that time of the year, when football is over, baseball has yet to start, and basketball and hockey are at their pointless mid-season. but no worry, pitchers and catchers report soon, and lets hope jake peavys shoulder stays attached to his body.

ive had the pleasure of finding billy madison, happy gilmore, and harold and kumar 2 for the everyday low price of 5$ each. billy and happy being the classics that they are, make good company for harold and kumar...who i might add have a third installment coming this xmas with "a very harold and kumar xmas".

the countodown is on...2 weeks from today I will be planting my roots in raleigh, nc and plan to jump on whatever bandwagon is more successful in the ncaa tournament.

ahhhhh...men

good morning to you on this super bowl sunday. i have my home made aaron "mr." rodgers jersey ready to go, and pray that my super bowl squares pay for a few tanks of gas down to north carolina.

speaking of north carolina...the news has broke, and i will soon to be a resident of the great state of north carolina, raleigh to be exact. come march i have very tough decions to make...unc? nc state? or duke? no matter what i choose, what is most important is that there will be no snow to be shoveled.

i do find promise in the 2011 chisox, with exception of the hot corner and a replacement peavy through may. needless to say, i look forward to the season, and hope for a twinkie/tiger free year.

"There's a crack in the edge at the end of the world
where I will sit with my love in this fluorescent swirl
eat us up, break it down, to the tiniest cell
in our room with a view and a window to heaven"

yogi

managing your blog is like having a 2nd job...is the check in the mail?

happy nfl playoffs! the pats are predicted to win it all just as in 2007, and we all know how that turned out. so for goodness sakes, lets keep our fingers crossed.

i had the pleasure of attending "the met" aka "the met cafe" reincarnated in the bucket pawtucket ri. the venue itself is great, perfect size for all those emo.....excuse me....scene kids to watch bands play aggresively and not be judged by characters form the jersey shore. as for the location, make sure to lock your car, and keep your belongings with you.

check out rachel's bro's band...theyre "invogue" and have a stage presence that i've yet to see in a local band:

sleep city

rachel and i have found that wheel of fortune for the wii is proabably the most unfair game ever created.

big news coming in the near future...stay tuned.
